Freddie Patek hit 2 doubles as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Diego
Padres by the score of 5 to 0 at Jack Murphy Stadium.

San Diego fell behind quickly as the Pittsburgh offense came through in the
first inning scoring a single run on 2 hits. The early run support proved
sufficient for Jim Rooker(6-9) and Pittsburgh. That was all the run support
Rooker required. Pittsburgh banged out 8 on the night.
