Clint Courtney blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Ed Lopat had a strong
outing at Sportsman's Park as the St. Louis AL Browns won a thriller over the
New York AL Yankees in, 4 to 2.
St. Louis AL won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing
2 base hits.  After two outs Jim Dyck started the attack as he slapped a
single.  Courtney was next and he smashed a two-run homer resulting in an
exciting win for St. Louis AL and a wild post-game celebration by the home
town fans.  For the game St. Louis AL out-hit New York AL 9 to 3.
The win went to Satchel Paige(1-3) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Ray
Herbert(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  The win by St. Louis AL was
very good news as they had been 1-9 of late.  Now their seasonal record

lately and 20-17 on the year.
