JULY 14

Clyde McCullough jacked one out of the ballyard at Forbes Field where the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the New York AL Yankees in 10 innings by the score of
5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Pittsburgh came out the
victor in the 10th inning.  Don Lund drew a walk.  After an out was recorded,
Joe Garagiola stepped in and he slapped a base-hit.  Carlos Bernier then
would hit into a force play giving Pittsburgh the win and sending the home
town fans into a frenzy.  Pittsburgh banged out 11 hits on the night.

Johnny Hetki(5-6) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Ray Herbert(1-4)
suffered the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks in 1 and 2/3
innings.
