First baseman Dee Fondy had 2 base hits as the phenomenal Chicago AL White Sox
defeated the New York AL Yankees in 10 innings by the score of 5 to 4 at
Comiskey Park.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Chicago AL won the game in the 10th
inning. Fondy lined a base-hit. Les Moss was the next batter, but he struck
out. After another out, Mel Clark stepped in and he drew a walk. Jim Busby
came up and he hit a single resulting in an exciting win for Chicago AL and a
wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Chicago AL had 11 hits
overall, while New York AL had 7.
Harry Dorish(3-2) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Ray
Herbert(1-5) took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks in 2 and
2/3 innings.

Left fielder Gene Woodling had 2 base hits as the New York AL Yankees defeated
the Chicago AL White Sox by the score of 4 to 3 at Comiskey Park.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Phil
Rizzuto banged out a single. One out later, Woodling stepped in and he
doubled. Hank Bauer then was walked intentionally. Joe Collins got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Both teams totaled 10 hits on the
night.
