Subject: Re: [SmileyList] trade analysis
One of the questions I would ask Hal Richman if I had the chance is whether he has Strat normalize for team defense before doing the pitchers' cards. Having 2's rather than 4's behind a pitcher can make a real difference. Vida Blue's stats had to be affected by such personnel changes as replacing: Phil Garner with Marty Perez, Sal Bando with Wayne Gross, Joe Rudi with Mitchell Page, and Bert Campaneris with Rob Piccolo. The difference between my 1975 and 1976 Mets is indicative. On X-chances, the 1976 Mets saved 36 hits, 43 total bases, and 26 reached-on-errors, compared to the 1975 team. That has to be 20-25 runs right there. At 3b alone the improvement was dramatic. The 1975 crew of Joe Torre and a menagerie of stiffs allowed 23 singles and 22 reached-on-errors more than the 1976 squad (mostly Buddy Bell and an extremely lucky 1/4 season from Mike Cubbage). That's probably 15 runs from just that one position.

Thanx for the response
Hard to believe looking at Blue's card that virtually half of the other pitchers in the league gave up less runs then him, but you have the numbers.
Actually, hiu real life defense behing him was very poor, so that would necessitate shaving a few hits off his card that he might normally have
