Yogi Berra smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Wrigley Field as the New York
AL Yankees beat the Chicago NL Cubs 11 to 6.
Berra was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 2nd inning,
popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and lined a single
which scored a run in the 8th inning. Chicago NL was out-hit by New York AL,
14 hits to 9.
Ned Garver(2-1) went 8 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Paul
Minner(0-3) was the loser. He allowed 3 homeruns in 3 and 2/3 innings of
work.
The win by New York AL was very good news as they had been 1-9 of late. Now
their seasonal record improves to 8-9. With the loss, the Chicago NL
ballclub's record is 6-11.
