Davey Lopes had 4 hits and Burt Hooton delivered 7 solid innings as the Los
Angeles Dodgers staged a dramatic comeback over the Atlanta Braves by a score
of 3 to 2 at Fulton Co. Stadium.

Los Angeles had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits.  Lopes opened up the inning nicely when he lined a single.
Lopes was safe at second on a stolen base.  Roger Metzger then laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Terry Puhl came up and he drew a walk.  Ron Cey came to the
plate and would ground out resulting in a run.  Dusty Baker added to the
uprising and drew a walk.  Chet Lemon came next and he lined a base-hit
scoring the final run of the inning.  Overall Los Angeles out-hit Atlanta 9
to 4.

The win was credited to Mike Garman(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. Rawly Eastwick recorded his 3rd save.  Randy Lerch(1-1) was the loser.

At Fulton Co. Stadium, the Atlanta fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Marty Pattin(1-0) finally bested his Atlanta opposite, Joe Niekro(2-1), by
the score of 2 to 1.

Los Angeles scored the deciding run in the top of the 8th inning.  Claudell
Washington doubled.  After an out was recorded, Dusty Baker came to the plate
and would hit into a fielders choice scoring the run.  Atlanta had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short.

Pattin got help from Terry Forster who was credited with his 2nd save.  Niekro
was given the loss.  He gave up 2 runs and 6 hits in 8 innings.

Tom Austad was in a sour mood after the game.  'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
