Eric Rasmussen took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Busch Stadium as the
St. Louis Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 5 to
2.

Rasmussen(5-0) delivered a fine performance for St. Louis.  He went 7 and 1/3
innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks.  The right-handed Rasmussen lost his
no-hit bid when Steve Garvey homered with nobody out in the 7th inning.  St.
Louis managed 7 in their victory.

Rollie Fingers recorded his 6th save. Rick Rhoden(1-4) ended up with the loss.
He surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

One run was the difference at Busch Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers halted
a 5 game slide and defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings 7 to
6.

The score was tied at 6 after nine.  Finally, Los Angeles pulled the game out
in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Ron Cey lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' (his 4th of the season).  It was roller coaster of a game as the
lead change hands 5 times.

Rawly Eastwick(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Rollie
Fingers(0-2) took the loss in relief.  'It felt really nice to get this win,'
Eastwick said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It
worked out this time.'
