Game 1:  Reggie Smith's solo home run is the entirety of the Mets offense off Milt Wilcox.  Since Craig Swan gives up two 2-run shots (to Griffey and Geronimo) the outcome is obvious -- Reds 6-1.

Game 2:   Mets' comeback is capped by Sixto Lezcano punching a single through the drawn-in infield in the top of the 8th off Manny Sarmiento to hang Dave Goltz with his 3rd loss.

Game 3:  The Reds' bullpen comes through to save Tom Seaver.  The Mets manage to turn 11 baserunners into 1 whole run.

Game 4:  Alan gets to curse his bullpen again.  Gene Pentz gets Dock Ellis out of one jam, but gives up a game-tying pinch hit home run to .161 hitting John Milner to lead off the 8th.  After getting two out, he allows a walk and 2 singles for the Mets to take the lead.  Rich Gossage makes things scary in the bottom of the 9th, but hangs on to salvage the split for New York.
