Tom Seaver went the distance at Riverfront Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds won in their last at-bat beating the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 5 to 4. Cincinnati won the game with a run in the 9th inning. After two were out Ken Griffey drew a walk. George Foster was next and he drew a walk. Joe Morgan then stroked a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Cincinnati and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Cincinnati had only 5 hits for the afternoon.
