Subject: results of Los Angeles @ Cincinnati.....

july 7

Joe Morgan cracked a homer and had 3 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7 to 5.

In the 2nd inning Cincinnati scored 4 runs with the help of 4 hits.  They
would hold up as the winning runs.  Cincinnati finished with 10 hits in the
victory.

Milt Wilcox(4-3) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Joe
Sambito recorded his 9th save.  Don Aase(5-2) was charged with the loss.  He
was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 6 innings.

Cincinnati now has a record of a division leading 58-34.  Los Angeles can't
seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'.  Now they have a miserable 2-8
record over the last couple weeks.

Pete Rose had 3 base hits at Riverfront Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds beat
the Los Angeles Dodgers in 11 innings by the count of 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings.  Cincinnati won it
in the 11th inning.  Ken Griffey lined a one-base hit.  Bill Melton was next
and he drew a walk.  Two outs later Rose stepped in and he slapped a base-hit
resulting in a mighty exciting win for Cincinnati and the 46,641 home town
fans in attendance.  Cincinnati managed 9 in their victory.

The win went to Manny Sarmiento(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Marty
Pattin(7-6) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
hits and 3 walks.

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 2 to 1 at Riverfront Stadium.

Cincinnati brought 2 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning with the help of
3 hits.  Pete Rose led off the inning for Cincinnati when he lined a one-base
hit.  Ken Griffey stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice
bunt.  Joe Morgan then smacked a single driving in a run.  Morgan took second
on the throw.  George Foster followed and he slapped a base-hit scoring the
final run of the inning.  That was all the runs Goltz(17-4) needed.  Los
Angeles went down quietly in the 9th.

Rick Rhoden(8-6) was given the loss.  Billy Vanson was obviously impressed
with the pitching of Goltz, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there
tonight.  We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for
him.  I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
