Second baseman Jorge Orta had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the red-hot New York NL Mets
defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 9 to 5 at Dodger Stadium.
 
New York NL came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning scoring
2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Keith Hernandez got things going when he
banged out a single.  Sixto Lezcano stepped into the batter's box and he drew
a walk.  After an out was recorded, Johnny Bench stepped up to the plate and
he slapped a single plating two runs.  Los Angeles was out-hit by New York
NL, 11 hits to 5. 
 
Warren Brusstar(3-1) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Marty Pattin(7-8) absorbed the loss in relief.  He was knocked around by New
York NL, allowing 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings. 
 
For New York NL, the victory kept their winning streak on the march. Jon
Fellows held court after the contest, 'Everything is coming up aces right
now.  It is important for our team to ride this wave as long as we can.

The streaking New York NL Mets edged the Los Angeles Dodgers in 13 innings at
Dodger Stadium by the score of 5 to 4.
 
The score was tied at 3 after nine. New York NL ended up winning it in the
13th inning.  Bruce Boisclair got things going when he delivered a one-base
hit.  Reggie Smith was next and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run
(his 26th of the season).  New York NL totaled 12 on the night. 
 
The win was credited to Bob Myrick(3-0) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run.
Mike Paxton(3-3) suffered the loss in relief.  For New York NL, it was just
another victory in their mounting winning streak.

Guerrero had a big day with his bat.  He doubled which plated a run in the 1st
inning, lashed a single in the 3rd inning, belted a three-run homer (his 1st
of the season) in the 7th inning and laced a base-hit in the 8th inning.  New
York NL bats were hot in the 1st inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits
and the 7th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 5 hits.  New York NL
finished with 21 hits while Los Angeles ended up with 7. 
 
The victory was credited to Pat Zachry(8-10) who went 6 innings, allowing 2
runs. Tommy John(7-7) was hit with the loss.  He allowed New York NL 7 runs
in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.

Don Aase whitewashed New York NL as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York
NL Mets by a score of 2 to 0.
 
Aase(7-2) looked very much in control throughout the day.  He allowed only 6
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 1.88 to 1.66.  Los
Angeles had a total of 8 hits for the game. 
 
Steve Carlton(15-6) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 2 runs and 8 hits
in 7 innings.  'It felt really nice to get this win,' Aase said. 'I kind of
dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
