In a thrilling finish the San Francisco Giants won in dramatic fashioncoming
back to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 5 to 4.

San Francisco scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  Darrell Evans led off and started the attack as he
slapped a base-hit.  Pete Lacock was next and he laced a single, and an error
was also committed.  Willie McCovey then lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his
25th of the season) giving San Francisco the victory as 35,245 happy fans
celebrated wildly.  For the game San Francisco out-hit Los Angeles 10 to 7.

Tom Griffin(4-5) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Mike Garman(4-5) was the loser in relief.  'That was exciting!,' Evans said.
'I would have paid money to watch this one.'

Tim Foli hit 2 doubles and had 3RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers won in
dramatic fashion over the San Francisco Giants by a score of 12 to 10 at
Candlestick Park.

Los Angeles had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs on 4 hits.  Chet Lemon led off and keyed the rally when he slapped a
base-hit.  Manny Sanguillen followed and he lashed a single.  Foli then hit a
sacrifice fly scoring a run.  Dave Kingman stepped in and he laced a one-base
hit.  Lee Lacy came to the plate and lined a single scoring the final run of
the inning.  Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings
was still not enough for San Francisco to come away with the victory.

Mike Paxton(4-3) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Paxton was
helped out by Rawly Eastwick who recorded his 13th save.  Randy Moffitt(3-6)
was the loser in relief.

Dusty Baker lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI at Candlestick
Park as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings
by the count of 10 to 6.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Los Angeles ended up winning
it in the 10th inning.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Glenn Burke who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he delivered a base-hit which was good
for two runs.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.

Marty Pattin(8-9) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Terry
Cornutt(0-3) was given the loss in relief.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning
giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
