New York NL won it in the 14th inning. Jay Johnstone slapped a single. Lee Mazzilli came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Reggie Smith stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Joe Niekro then unleashed a wild pitch scoring the run. For the game New York NL out-hit Atlanta 9 to 6. Warren Brusstar(4-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Brusstar got relief help from Dave Tomlin who gained credit for his 4th save. The loss was charged to Niekro(4-10) in relief. |
