Ron Cey had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego
Padres by a score of 11 to 3.

Cey was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much
of the offense for the visitors.  He lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run (his 38th of the season) in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd
inning, slapped a single in the 7th inning and lashed a one-base hit in the
9th inning.  Los Angeles kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.

The victory was credited to Mike Paxton(7-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 2
runs. Ken Brett(8-13) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in
6 innings.

Davey Lopes had 2 base hits at San Diego Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers
beat the woeful San Diego Padres in 10 innings 2 to 1.

The score was tied at 1 after nine.  Finally, Los Angeles pulled the game out
in the 10th inning.  Dusty Baker drew a walk.  Ron Cey next to the plate and
he delivered a single.  Terry Puhl then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Steve
Garvey was up next and he grounded into a double play.  Claudell Washington
came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Larry
Haney kept things alive and laced a base-knock scoring the run.  Haney took
second on the throw.  Los Angeles had 11 hits for the night while San Diego
had 5.

Mike Garman(5-7) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Tommy
Moore(1-3) was charged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2 hits
in 1 inning.
