Catcher Paul Casanova had 2 base hits and Phil Ortega went 9 strong innings at
D. C. Stadium as the Washington Senators beat the Chicago AL White Sox by the
count of 7 to 2.

Chicago AL was unable to recover after Washington went ahead in the bottom of
the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits.  Ken McMullen led off the inning
for Washington when he drew a walk.  Gary Peters then was wild with a pitch.
Ken Harrelson then cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 1st of the
season).  That early run support was enough for Ortega(2-1) and Washington.
The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score
again.

Peters(1-4) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 7 runs in 3 innings of work.

First baseman Jim Gentile smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Chicago AL
White Sox beat the Washington Senators by a score of 16 to 10.

Gentile was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense.  He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st inning and
smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season) in the 3rd inning.
Chicago AL kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 4 runs on 4 hits
and the 5th inning which saw them plate 9 runs on 4 hits.  Overall Chicago AL
out-hit Washington 14 to 11.

Jack Kralick(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Ray Culp(1-3) ended up with the loss.  He was unable to
control the Chicago AL offense and allowed 7 hits and 6 walks in 4 and 1/3
innings.

The Chicago AL ballclub's record now stands at 7-12.  With the loss Washington
now has a record of 6-10.
