april 27 The Kansas City A's registered 4 runs in the 3rd inning and easily topped the New York AL Yankees; the final score was 8 to 3. The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Dick Allen. He belted a three-run homer (his 6th of the season) in the 1st inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Kansas City rapped out 9 hits for the night. Mike McCormick(5-2) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Ken Sanders was credited with his 1st save. Al Downing(0-4) ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 4 walks in 3 innings.
