In a thriller the Chicago NL Cubs staged a dramatic comeback over the New York
NL Mets winning by a score of 6 to 5 at Wrigley Field.

Chicago NL won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3

he ripped a base-knock.  Ted Sizemore stepped into the batter's box and he
drew a walk.  Larry Hisle then hit a single to load the bases.  One out
later, Bill Buckner came up and he banged out a one-base hit giving Chicago
NL the victory as 33,960 happy fans celebrated wildly.  The game was a wild
affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Bruce Sutter(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Don Stanhouse(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs
and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
