Bill Freehan went deep and had 2 RBI at Tiger Stadium as the Detroit Tigers
beat the New York AL Yankees by the count of 6 to 3.

Detroit brought 4 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning.  The
crucial at-bat was provided by Dick McAuliffe who made the Detroit fans a
happy lot when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 4th of the season).  Detroit
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.

Hank Aguirre(4-0) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Ron
Kline got the save, his 3rd.  Fritz Peterson(3-3) took the loss.  He allowed
Detroit 6 runs in 5 innings of work.

The New York AL Yankees had very little trouble at Tiger Stadium downing the
Detroit Tigers.  The score was 7 to 1.

New York AL brought 2 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning with the help of
4 hits.  That early run support was enough for Fred Talbot(2-3) and New York
AL.  New York AL dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

Johnny Podres(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  With this win, New York AL has a
16-15 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.  With the loss Detroit now has a
record of 20-11.
