complete
game shutout as the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the Pittsburgh Pirates by a
score of 7 to 0 at Three Rivers Stadium.

Cox had a big day at the plate.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 2nd inning,
delivered a base-hit in the 4th inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 5th of
the season) in the 7th inning and stroked a single in the 9th inning.  Los
Angeles had 15 hits for the afternoon.

For Hooton(10-5) it was his 2nd shutout this year. John Candelaria(5-4)
absorbed the loss.  He was touched for 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings.

'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Cox said 'next
time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
