Mets' pitcher Ken Kravec pitched a no-hitter at Candlestick Park against the San Francisco Giants. SF's only baserunners came from a walk to Vida Blue and an error by Kravec. Ken Kravec(10-7) pitched a rare no-hitter as the New York NL Mets toppled the San Francisco Giants 11 to 0. Although disappointed to see the hometown team lose, the fans certainly were appropriately impressed with the dominating, no-hit performance of Kravec. He allowed San Francisco just one walk. The New York NL players and coaches started to leave Kravec alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. Kravec recorded 11 strikeouts. New York NL finished with 16 hits in the victory. Vida Blue(8-9) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 14 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. It took a while to pry Kravec way from his teammates as they all wanted to show their appreciation and joy. Finally, however, Jon Fellows got to offer his own congratulations with a big bear hug and the comment, 'That was one of the best pitched games I have seen in all my years in baseball - Kravec was masterful out there tonight!'
