Leon Roberts had 2 base hits at Shea Stadium as the New York NL Mets beat the
Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 7 to 4.
 
Los Angeles surrendered all of the runs New York NL needed in the 8th inning
showing no mercy on Los Angeles as they plated 7 runs on 5 hits.  The
highlight belonged to TOBY HARRAH who made the New York NL fans a happy lot
when he tripled clearing all three ducks off the pond.  New York NL rapped
out 7 hits for the night. 
 
The victory was credited to WARREN BRUSSTAR(3-3) who went 2 innings, allowingno runs. Bobby Castillo(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 inning giving up 4 hits and 2 walks.
 
New York NL now has a record of 47-52. With the loss Los Angeles now has a
record of 48-51, worst in the division.

Second baseman KURT BEVACQUA blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Los
Angeles Dodgers beat the New York NL Mets by a score of 6 to 4.
 
Bevacqua provided the offensive punch.  He popped a two-run clout over the
fence in the 3rd inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 4th of the
season) in the 7th inning.  Los Angeles had a total of 10 hits for the game.
 
The winning pitcher was RICK RHODEN(4-9) who allowed 4 runs in 7 innings.
Rhoden got relief help from Terry Forster who gained credit for his 14th
save.  Craig Swan(7-9) absorbed the loss.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  New York NL came out on
top in the 10th inning.  After two were out SIXTO LEZCANO lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' (his 9th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for New
York NL and the 49,915 home town fans in attendance.  Overall New York NL
out-hit Los Angeles 7 to 2. 
 
DON STANHOUSE(3-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Bob
Welch(4-5) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
hits and no walks.
