Game 1 Left fielder Leon Roberts had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Shea Stadium as the New York NL Mets beat the Montreal Expos 6 to 3.
The game started off with New York NL taking the lead in the first plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Montreal threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Ken Kravec (15-10) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Skip Lockwood earned the save, his 6th. Don Hood (0-5) absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk.
New York NL continued their winnings ways improving their record to 68-71. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With the loss, Montreal has a record of 6-4 lately, 65-78 overall.
Game 2 Craig Swan pitched a complete game shutout at Shea Stadium as the New York NL Mets beat the Montreal Expos 2 to 0.
Swan (10-10) had a strong outing. He allowed just 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. New York NL had just 5 hits for the night.

The key offensive moment was provided by Ellis Valentine who silenced Shea Stadium as he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 20th of the season). Montreal had a total of 9 hits for the game.
Larry Christenson (17-7) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Pat Zachry (8-8) was the loser. He gave up 4 runs and 2 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Game 4 Left fielder Glenn Adams connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI at Shea Stadium where the Montreal Expos beat the New York NL Mets by the score of 6 to 3.
New York NL never recovered after Montreal took the lead in the 6th inning as they scored 2 runs on 1 base hit. The key offensive moment was provided by Adams who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 4th of the season). New York NL could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.
Steve Rogers (10-12) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 5 innings. Rogers got relief help from Balor Moore who gained credit for his 1st save. Don Aase (8-10) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. |
