SEPTEMBER 2

48,055 fans watched an exciting game at Jack Murphy Stadium.  The San Diego
Padres topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine.  San Diego came out the victor in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Jerry Turner laced a base-hit.  Ozzie
Smith stepped up next and he lined a single.  Smith took second on the throw.
Dave Roberts then was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Dave Winfield
stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit resulting in a mighty exciting win
for San Diego and the 48,055 home town fans in attendance.  San Diego managed
10 in their victory.

The win went to Mark Lee(7-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Terry
Forster(6-6) was given the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 runs in 2
innings and saw his ERA increase from 1.89 to 2.32.
