AUGUST 31 Catcher Marc Hill connected with a 'big fly' and had 6 RBI as the San Diego Padres ballclub embarrassed the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 14 to 2. Hill was a one-man wrecking crew. He doubled emptying the bases in the 5th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th inning. For the game San Diego out-hit Los Angeles 13 to 8. Bob Owchinko(16-10) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Marty Pattin earned the save, his 2nd. Jim Lonborg(2-8) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by San Diego, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
