New manager attached.
Game 1 Preacher Roe allowed Brooklyn 's manager to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game and shortstop Pee Wee Reese had 3 base hits and scored 4 times as the Brooklyn Dodgers bested the Boston AL Red Sox 8 to 4 at Ebbets Field.
Roe (3-4) had a solid outing for Brooklyn . He went 9 innings surrendering 9 hits and 2 walks. Brooklyn finished with 13 hits in the victory.
Joe Dobson (4-3) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 5 innings. Game 2 In a close game the Boston AL Red Sox tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning and got by the Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 9 to 7.
Dom Dimaggio had a good evening at the plate. He laced a base-hit in the 3rd inning, launched a three-run homer in the 6th inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Brooklyn made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Mickey Harris (6-3) allowed 5 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Robin Roberts (6-3) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Brooklyn's manager was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more white hairs on this noggin of mine.' Game 3 Catcher Roy Campanella launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Rex Barney had a complete game as the Brooklyn Dodgers ballclub embarrassed the Boston AL Red Sox by the count of 20 to 1.
Campanella had a big evening at the plate. He lofted a three-run bomb in the 2nd inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 8th inning. Brooklyn bats were hot in the 1st inning with 5 runs on 3 hits and the 8th inning which saw them score 5 runs on 8 hits. Brooklyn dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
Barney (2-3) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Blix Donnelly (2-6) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by Brooklyn , allowing 6 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.
Brooklyn now has a record of 32-20. Boston AL can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks. Steve Bivens General Manager ALSCO Tacoma/Seattle
