Subject: Red Sox at White Sox Week 12

Game 1

At Comiskey Park the Boston AL Red Sox outscored the Chicago AL White Sox 4 to

Mel Parnell (16-8) delivered a fine performance for Boston AL . He went 8

innings surrendering 3 hits and 4 walks. Overall Boston AL out-hit Chicago

AL 11 to 3.

Parnell got help from Blix Donnelly who earned his 3rd save. Ken

Heintzelman (14-7) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 8 hits and 1 walk in 7

innings.

Game 2

The Boston AL Red Sox defeated the slumping Chicago AL White Sox by a score of

5 to 1 at Comiskey Park .

Chicago AL found themselves trailing quickly as the Boston AL bats came

through in the first inning plating one base runner on 2 hits. Boston AL had

a total of 7 hits for the game.

The victory was credited to Joe Dobson (10-7) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,

allowing 1 run. Billy Pierce (2-11) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 5

runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.

Game 3

Dave Philley had 2 base hits as the Chicago AL White Sox topped the Boston AL

Red Sox by a score of 5 to 2 at Comiskey Park .

Chicago AL claimed the early lead in the first inning when they came up with 3

runs on 3 hits. That early run support was all that Bob Lemon (17-11)

required. Chicago AL finished with 9 hits in the victory.

Schoolboy Rowe earned his 22nd save. The loss was charged to Frank

Fanovich (2-6). He pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 walks.

Game 4

The Chicago AL White Sox and the Boston AL Red Sox locked up in an exciting

one-run game at Comiskey Park . The final score was the Chicago AL White Sox

4, the Boston AL Red Sox 3.

Chicago AL took the lead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning plating one

base runner on 3 hits. Boston AL had a chance to come back in the 9th but

they came up short.

The win went to Randy Gumpert (10-7) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Gumpert

got relief help from Schoolboy Rowe who gained credit for his 23rd save.

Mickey Harris (11-8) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 2 runs and 8 hits

in 6 and 1/3 innings.

'It was a tough one to lose' said Boston AL 's manager 'We'll get them next

time out.'
