Burt Hooton came through with a solid 9 innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers
topped the Atlanta Braves by a score of 2 to 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning.  Bill
Fahey delivered a one-base hit.  Hooton came to the plate and laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  One out later, Davey Lopes stepped in and he drew a walk.
Steve Garvey followed and he stroked a base-hit scoring the run.  Garvey took
second on the throw.  Los Angeles had only 6 hits for the game.

The victory went to Hooton(2-1) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Joe
Niekro(3-1) was the loser.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 6 hits and 5
walks.

The Los Angeles ballclub's record now stands at 6-9.  With the loss, the
Atlanta ballclub's record is 7-8.

The Atlanta Braves erupted in a big 10 run 10th inning and cruised to a 13 to
3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in 10 innings at Dodger Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Atlanta ended up
winning it in the 10th inning.  The big moment was provided by Dave Kingman
who silenced the stadium when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 3rd of the
season).  Both teams totaled 12 on the night.

The victory went to Joey McLaughlin(2-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Bob Welch(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He allowed 3 runs and 3 hits
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
