Los Angeles had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits. After two outs Dusty Baker kicked off the action when he drew a walk. Bobby Clark stepped into the batter's box and he tripled scoring a run. Lemon then lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Dave Patterson(1-0) got relief help from Bob Welch who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 4th save. Mark Littell(2-3) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs in 1 inning and saw his ERA increase from 2.81 to 3.71. Littell was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
