Subject: **** results of Los Angeles @ St Louis ****

MAY 24

At Busch Stadium, the St. Louis fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Jerry
Reuss(3-2) finally bested his St. Louis opposite, Bob Forsch(3-4), by the
score of 2 to 0.

Los Angeles brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning.  Bob
Welch, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 9th save.

The losing pitcher was Forsch.  He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 3
walks. The win by Los Angeles was very good news as they had been 2-8 of
late.  Now their seasonal record improves to 26-24.  St. Louis has a record
of 23-27 after the loss.

Rick Sutcliffe delivered 8 solid innings and left fielder Dusty Baker hit 2
doubles and had 2 RBI at Busch Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers won in
dramatic fashion coming back to beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of
7 to 5.

Los Angeles took the lead for good in the 6th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.
Davey Lopes got things going when he drew a walk.  Mario Mendoza stepped up
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Chet Lemon then doubled plating a
run.  After another out, Terry Puhl stepped up to the plate and he was walked
intentionally.  Bruce Bochy stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the
bases.  Baker joined his teammates in the uprising and doubled as another two
runners scored.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

The win was credited to Sutcliffe(7-2) who went 8 innings allowing no runs.
Bob Welch got the save, his 10th.  John Fulgham(0-2) ended up with the loss.
