MAY 24 At Busch Stadium, the St. Louis fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Jerry Reuss(3-2) finally bested his St. Louis opposite, Bob Forsch(3-4), by the score of 2 to 0. Los Angeles brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning. Bob Welch, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 9th save. The losing pitcher was Forsch. He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks. The win by Los Angeles was very good news as they had been 2-8 of late. Now their seasonal record improves to 26-24. St. Louis has a record of 23-27 after the loss.
