Subject: **** Los Angeles @ San Francisco RESULTS ****

JUNE 14

Bert Campaneris had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Candlestick Park where the San
Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 9 to 8.

Gary Lavelle(3-3) was called upon to do the job and he was the winning
pitcher.  He was reached for 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.  Los
Angeles threatened in the 9th but San Francisco was able to put down the
rally.

Greg Minton earned the save, his 13th.  Bobby Castillo(2-1) absorbed the loss
in relief.  He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in
his 1 inning of work.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Billy Vanson lamented after the
game.  'This was one of them.'

Chet Lemon had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgersoutscored the San
Francisco Giants 10 to 5.

Lemon was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense.  He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 13th of the
season) in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning, laced a
base-knock knocking in a run in the 6th inning and slapped a single plating a
run in the 8th inning.  Los Angeles dominated offensively as they scored in 6
different innings.

Chris Knapp(6-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 6 innings. The loss was charged
to Ed Halicki(0-10).  He was knocked around by Los Angeles, allowing 9 hits
and 2 walks in 5 innings.

JUNE 17

John Montefusco pitched a 2 hitter as the San Francisco Giants outscored the
Los Angeles Dodgers 3 to 1.

San Francisco brought 2 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning.  That was all
the runs Montefusco(4-3) needed.  San Francisco managed 8 in their victory.

Don Sutton(5-8) was the loser.  When questioned about his counterpart after
the game, Sutton was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that
we were going to be in for a long night.  Montefusco brought his 'A' game
with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.  He probably
only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
