JULY 20

Rich Gossage shut Los Angeles down and Rodney Scott had 3 basehits and 3 RBI
at San Diego Stadium as the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by
the count of 10 to 5.

San Diego came up with 5 runs in the 5th inning when they had 5 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Johnnie Lemaster who brought a roar from the partisan
San Diego Stadium fans when he lined a one-base hit bringing in two
baserunners.  San Diego rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.

Randy Jones(11-10) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Gossage
recorded his 16th save.  The losing pitcher was Jerry Reuss(8-5).  He was
unable to control the San Diego offense and allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.
