Subject: ### RESULTS ### Los Angeles @ Atlanta

sept 7

Phil Niekro tossed a complete game at Fulton Co. Stadium where the Atlanta
Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9 to 3.

Atlanta brought 7 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning when
they had 4 base hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Joe Ferguson who
brought the crowd to their feet when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his
18th of the season).  Atlanta banged out 12 on the night.

The victory was credited to Niekro(16-17) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. Rick Sutcliffe(12-10) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around by
Atlanta, allowing 9 hits and 6 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Dale Murphy rocketed 2 homeruns and Joe Niekro hurled a 3 hitter at Fulton Co.
Stadium as the Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 2
to 1.

Murphy helped send the fans home happy.  He doubled in the 2nd inning, ripped
a solo home run in the 5th inning and hit a bases-empty home run (his 22nd of
the season) in the 6th inning.  Los Angeles made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Niekro(15-18) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Tom
Griffin(5-9) took the loss.  He gave up 2 runs and 5 hits in 6 innings.

Bob Horner launched 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Fulton Co. Stadium as the
Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 13 to 10.

Horner was really 'in the zone'.  He smacked a three-run homer in the 3rd
inning and lofted a three-run bomb (his 31st of the season) in the 4th
inning.  Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was
still not enough for Los Angeles to come away with the victory.

Rick Wise(17-11) got the win allowing 7 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Burt
Hooton(12-8) was tagged with the loss.  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his
4 innings of work.

Third baseman Ron Cey had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated
the Atlanta Braves by the score of 8 to 2 at Fulton Co. Stadium.

Los Angeles had 3 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning when they had 3 base
hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Don Sutton(11-13) and Los
Angeles.  That was all the run support Sutton required.  Los Angeles ended up
with 15 hits for the game while Atlanta had 8.

Nino Espinosa(13-18) was the loser.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
