A hugely decisive outburst by Atlanta in the bottom of the 9th inning quieted any New York AL hopes for a victory as they showed no mercy on New York AL blasting them for 2 hits and plating 7 runs. The highlight belonged to Knoop who excited the crowd when he launched a Grand Slam homerun (his 13th of the season). Atlanta banged out 11 on the night. Billy O'Dell(6-3) got the win allowing 4 runs in 2 innings. Hal Reniff(3-6) was hit with the loss in relief. 'What a game!,' O'Dell said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'
