May 8 In an exciting finish the Cincinnati Reds pulled out a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 8 to 6 at Riverfront Stadium. Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits. Dave Collins led off and keyed the rally when he ripped a base-knock. Alan Bannister was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. After another out, George Foster came up and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 4th of the season) making Cincinnati the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times. The win was credited to Tom Hume(1-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs. Tom Griffin(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no walks in 2/3 of an inning.
