A hugely decisive outburst by Montreal in the top of the 9th inning quieted any St. Louis hopes for a victory as they creamed St. Louis blasting them with 7 runs on 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ron Leflore who helped quiet the crowd when he doubled plating three runs. For the game Montreal out-hit St. Louis 7 to 3.
Elias Sosa (4-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Andy Hassler (0-1) was the loser in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Ivan Dejesus said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!'
