First game of a three game set goes to the Red Sox who break out with a 6-run 6^th inning.

Hughson limited the Yankees to 3 hits in his 8 innings to finish 14-8 on the season.

Red Sox hold a 1 game lead while trailing by 1 game in the loss column.

The spectacular Boston AL Red Sox had an easy time of it at Yankee Stadium

defeating the New York AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 1.

 Boston AL plated all the runs they needed in the 6th inning when they scored 6

runs on 4 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Sam Mele who deflated the

mood of the partisan fans when he lined a base-hit bringing in two

baserunners.  The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th

inning.

Tex Hughson(14-8) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Hank

Borowy(8-8) absorbed the loss.  He gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings.
