Subject: **** RESULTS **** Los Angeles @ Cincinnati

JULY 3

Frank Pastore allowed just 2 hits at Riverfront Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds
beat the reeling Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 2 to 1.

Pastore(7-4) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Los Angeles offense.
He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop
from 3.72 to 3.50.  The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as neither
team was able to score again.

The losing pitcher was Dave Frost(1-2).  He surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits in 5
innings.

JULY 4

Shortstop Dave Concepcion hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Riverfront Stadium as
the Cincinnati Reds beat the floundering Los Angeles Dodgers in 10 innings by
the count of 3 to 2.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Cincinnati came out on top in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Lee May singled.  John Stearns stepped
into the batter's box and he drew a walk.  One out later, Concepcion stepped
up to the plate and he lined a one-base hit giving Cincinnati the win much to
the delight of the home town crowd.  The teams had been locked in a scoreless
duel until the 6th inning.

Joe Price(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Tom Griffin(4-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.

With this win, Cincinnati has a 49-37 record. They have been 5-5 lately.
Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Los Angeles is 1-9 lately and 50-36 on
the year.

JULY 6

In a two run game the Los Angeles Dodgers got by the Cincinnati Reds in 12
innings by the score of 4 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Los Angeles came out the
victor in the 12th inning.  Chet Lemon led off and keyed the rally when he
was hit by a pitch.  Lemon was running on the next pitch and he stole second.
Dusty Baker then drew a walk.  Ken Landreaux stepped in and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Buck Martinez came to the plate and would hit into a
fielders choice knocking in a run.  Steve Howe dug into the batters box next,
but he struck out.  Davey Lopes stepped up to the plate and he slapped a
one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning.  Los Angeles won despite
being out-hit by Cincinnati 13 hits to 6.

Howe(3-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Mario
Soto(6-4) ended up with the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 1 hit in 1
inning.
