Bake McBride had 2 base hits as the St. Louis Cardinals won indramatic
fashion over the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 2 to 1 at Busch
Stadium.

St. Louis erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs on 4 hits.  Ken Oberkfell led off the inning for St. Louis
when he tripled.  Cesar Cedeno got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes.  Dave Stapleton then doubled scoring a run.  George
Hendrick was the next batter, but he struck out.  Bob Watson stepped into the
box and laced a single.  McBride kept the rally going and slapped a single
resulting in an exciting win for St. Louis and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  St. Louis managed 8 in their victory.

Dick Tidrow(8-2) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Steve
Howe(6-5) ended up with the loss in relief.  The St. Louis ballclub's record
now stands at 65-51.  Los Angeles has a record of 65-51 after the loss.
