"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""Los
Angeles Dodgers embarrassed the dreadful Chicago NL Cubs by the lopsided
score of 16 to 3.

The Chicago NL fans didn't appreciate the big day Baker had.  He smashed a
two-run homer in the 5th inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run
(his 23rd of the season) in the 6th inning and laced a base-hit in the 8th
inning.  Los Angeles kept the scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning with 6 runs
on 5 hits.  Los Angeles finished with 19 hits while Chicago NL ended up with
12.

Bob Welch was on top of his game, blanking Chicago NL on just 3 hits and
center fielder Chet Lemon homered and had 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers
outscored the lifeless Chicago NL Cubs 4 to 0.

Welch(11-6) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago NL offense.  He
surrendered only 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  Los Angeles managed 14 in
their victory.

Randy Martz(0-4) was charged with the loss.  He was unable to control the Los
Angeles offense and allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

With this win, Los Angeles has a division leading 72-54 record.  They have
been 7-3 lately.  Chicago NL has a record of 43-83, worst in the division
after the loss.
