Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits. Lee Lacy led off and keyed the rally when he singled. George Foster was next and he bombed a two-run dinger (his 18th of the season) giving Cincinnati the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Cincinnati finished with just 5 hits in the victory. Tom Hume(13-4) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Steve Howe(8-7) was hit with the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter and surrendered 2 hits and no walks. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Lacy noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
