JUNE 1 Joaquin Andujar carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at BUSCH STADIUM where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 3 to 2. Andujar(3-4) gave a fine effort for St. Louis. He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 5 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA from 4.85 to 4.33. The right-handed Andujar lost his chance for a no-hitter when Steve Sax doubled with one out in the 6th inning. Bruce Sutter earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 16th save. Jerry Reuss(7-3) took the loss. He pitched 6 innings giving up 5 hits and no walks. Los Angeles took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. Larry Milbourne led off and started the rally when he delivered a base-hit. Milbourne got a great jump and stole second easily. Bob Welch then drew a walk. Burleson followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Mike Scioscia came to the plate and doubled scoring two baserunners. That was all Welch(6-3) needed. Los Angeles ended up with 13 hits for the game while St. Louis had 5.
