After an out was recorded, Jim Gosger lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 5th of the season) giving Kansas City the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Minnie Rojas(5-4) got the win allowing no runs in 4 innings. Hoyt Wilhelm(6-5) suffered the loss in relief. The Kansas City ballclub's record now stands at 75-67. With the loss Chicago AL now has a record of 83-59. Don Mincher hit a single, and an error was also committed. Phil Roof stepped up next and he laced a base-knock making Kansas City the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
