Steve Garvey had 4 hits and 4 RBI at WRIGLEY FIELD as the Los Angeles Dodgers
belted the Chicago NL Cubs by the count of 16 to 6.

Garvey provided the offensive punch.  He doubled which was good for two runs
in the 1st inning, slapped a single in the 4th inning, doubled scoring two
baserunners in the 6th inning and delivered a base-hit in the 9th inning.
Los Angeles kept the scorekeepers busy in the 8th inning which saw them plate
5 runs on 4 hits.  Offensively, Los Angeles was a juggernaut.  They scored in
6 separate innings.

Bob Welch(7-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 6
runs. Welch got relief help from Mark Bomback who gained credit for his 3rd
save.  Mike Witt(2-10) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
giving up 8 hits and 1 walk.
