Bob Welch came through with a solid 7 innings as the amazing Los Angeles
Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres by a score of 7 to 2.
 
Los Angeles scored 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 4 base
hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Los Angeles finished with
7 hits while San Diego ended up with 2. 
 
Welch(12-8) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Jackson Todd(5-8) was
given the loss.  He allowed Los Angeles 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.

The San Diego Padres nipped the Los Angeles Dodgers in 10 innings 4 to 3 at
San Diego Stadium in a hard fought contest.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  San Diego ended up winning it
in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Larry Herndon ripped a solo
home run (his 5th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for San
Diego and the 46,862 home town fans in attendance.  San Diego and Los Angeles
each finished the night with 11 hits. 
 
Eric Show(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. The losing pitcher
was Alejandro Pena(5-4) in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit in 1
inning.

Terry Kennedy had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at San Diego Stadium asthe San Diego
Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 6 to 5.
 
San Diego came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 4 base hits.  Juan Bonilla led off and he
ripped a base-knock.  Kennedy came to the plate and stroked a single.  Sixto
Lezcano then smacked a single scoring a run.  Barry Evans came up and he
lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning.  Fred Kuhaulua(5-1) got
help from Rich Gossage who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his
30th save. 
 
Tom Niedenfuer(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 inning
allowing 3 hits and no walks.

Burt Hooton had a strong outing at San Diego Stadium as the Los Angeles
Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 3 to 2.
 
Los Angeles jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an
isolated run on 2 hits.  San Diego could do no damage in the bottom of the
9th. 
 
Hooton(17-6) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Hooton
got help from Dave Stewart who earned his 6th save.  Steve Mura(15-10) ended
up with the loss.  He surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.
