One run was the difference at San Diego Stadium as the San Diego Padres
defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3 to 2.

Tim Lollar(5-1) pitched well for San Diego in their victory.  He was reached
for 7 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings and surrendered 2 homeruns lowering his
ERA from 3.70 to 3.47.  San Diego managed only 6 on the night.

Lollar got relief help from Gary Lucas who gained credit for his 4th save.
Alejandro Pena(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run
and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning.

The sizzling San Diego Padres nipped the Los Angeles Dodgers 6 to 5 at San
Diego Stadium in a hard fought contest.

Obviously without his best stuff, Juan Eichelberger(3-1) still hung on to pick
up the win.  He gave up 7 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings.  Eichelberger got
help from Luis Deleon who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his
7th save.

Doug Corbett(0-3) ended up with the loss in relief.  He was pinned with the
loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 2 innings of work.

Fernando Valenzuela delivered 9 solid innings as the Los AngelesDodgers
topped the San Diego Padres by a score of 2 to 0 at San Diego Stadium.

Los Angeles jumped on top of San Diego in the 2nd inning scoring a single run.
That early scoring was all that Valenzuela(6-1) needed.  After the 4th
inning, neither team was able to score.

The loss was charged to Dave Dravecky(0-1).  'I've been working on a few
things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a good groove.' Valenzuela
said after the game.  'I'm ready to start another game tomorrow!'
