Subject: Milwaukee @ Minnesota
This was a brutal four game series for the hometown Twins,
as the Brewers flexed their muscle in this series. Game 1 Brewers jump out to a 6-1 lead, then tack on seven more in
the sixth, and roll 15-1. Jenkins the winner, Redfern the loser, but the
story of this game was the eight, yes, eight homers by the Brewers, including
two by Mark Brouhard who gave Reggie the rest of the night off. Game 2 Brewers lead 3-0 going to the bottom of the 7th,
but a three run shot by John Castino tied it up. The Brewers would add
one in the 8th, and then blow it open with three in the 9th,
and go on to win 7-4, hitting four more homers. Game 3 Twins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st, but
then saw the Brewers take the lead in the 4th. While the Twins
tied it back up in the 4th off a struggling Pete Vuckovich, the
Brewers added two more runs, while Jon Matlack threw three hitless innings as
the Brewers won 6-4 yet only one homer by the Brewers in this one. Game 4 Brewers jump out to a 6-0 lead, and then blow it open in the
7th, with six more runs as Don Sutton held the Twins in check.
Brewers win 14-4, and hit four more homers in the game. Brewers hit 17 homers in the four game series, outscoring
the Twins 42-13. |
