august 5 Bob Forsch tossed a complete game and Bo Diaz went deep and had 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers were badly beaten by the St. Louis Cardinals, 14 to 3. St. Louis had 8 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning with the help of 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Lonnie Smith who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he delivered a single plating two runs. St. Louis had a total of 14 hits for the game. Forsch(12-12) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Renie Martin(8-5) was the loser. The winning ways continue for St. Louis. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. The loss by Los Angeles interrupted a nice 8-2 recent run.
