Bob Forsch tossed a complete game and Bo Diaz went deep and had 3 RBI as the
Los Angeles Dodgers were badly beaten by the St. Louis Cardinals, 14 to
3.

St. Louis had 8 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning with the
help of 5 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Lonnie Smith who
elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he delivered a single plating two
runs.  St. Louis had a total of 14 hits for the game.

Forsch(12-12) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Renie
Martin(8-5) was the loser.  The winning ways continue for St. Louis.  They
now have a record of 8-2 in recent days.  The loss by Los Angeles interrupted
a nice 8-2 recent run.

Wayne Krenchicki lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 4 RBI at Busch
Stadium where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7 to
3.

Krenchicki enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He lined a single in the 1st
inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 2nd inning and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season) in the 3rd inning.  Los
Angeles totaled 10 on the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Frank Dipino(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings.
Steve Howe got the save, his 27th.  John Stuper(7-6) ended up with the loss.
He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
