April 5 Mike Krukow(1-0) and Jerry Reuss(0-1) treated the San Franciscofans to a fine pitching duel at CANDLESTICK PARK. The San Francisco Giants eventually emerged as victors over the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 3 to 1. San Francisco had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits. Doug Flynn led off and started the rally when he doubled. Tony Scott came next and he laced a base-knock. Scott took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Bucky Dent stepped in and he would hit into a fielders choice scoring a run. Darrell Evans stepped into the box and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. San Francisco had only 6 hits for the game. Krukow got relief help from Gary Lavelle who gained credit for his 1st save.
