May 30 One run was the difference at Olympic Stadium as the Montreal Expos defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 to 3. Montreal scored 2 runs in the 5th inning when they had 3 base hits. They ended up being the winning runs. Los Angeles had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Steve Rogers(8-4) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Jeff Reardon recorded the save, his 14th. The loss was charged to Jerry Reuss(7-3). He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. 'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Billy Vanson 'but it's losing the close ones that really hurt.'
