Friday, August 4: 1942 regular season ends. *Due to Smiley ending the exact same date, we will postpone the pre-smiley draft for one week after the smiley draft begins. Saturday, August 5: 1941 draft lottery will be held at 12 noon ET, after which the trade window opens (postseason trading rules apply). As in 1942, the lottery will include only the teams with the lowest 4 win totals. Tuesday, August 15: postseason trading window closes at 8 AM ET. Wednesday, August 16: roster cuts and claims are due by 8 AM ET. The 1941 draft page will be available shortly after that time, updated league files will be posted and the draft will begin (untimed for that day). Thursday, August 17: The clock will start at 12 noon ET and from that point forward teams will have 4 hours to make their pick from the time I put them on the clock. The clock is suspended each night from 11 PM to 8 AM ET. ==================================================================== Note that our draft and cutdown limits have been lowered from 26 to 25 players for the 1941 season. The league will continue having the 110% usage for PA/IP. Also remember to account for the fact that certain players are permitted more usage than is shown on their cards; your team may have more usage available at some positions than may be apparent at first, which may affect your perceived draft needs. You will also be able to increase your roster to 28 players in-season with FA claims. Because of the decreased number of picks being made, the draft may go more quickly than in previous years. We will play it by ear as to when we'll start the actual season. Also, I have not had further talks with Alan, but I doubt we'll have use for our normal pre-Smiley webpage now that Alan is not in our league. If someone wants to administrate a new pre-smiley page, that would be terrific. We could put the 1941 draft page on the new website. If not, we will try to run everything through the yahoo groups site and email. Thanks to everyone for the great job you've done in year 1 of the restart. I appreciate Billy taking over the Cubs for 1941. Good luck as we finish up this next week and look forward to the Red Sox-Dodgers' World Series. Thomas |
